<\/figure>\n\n\n\nFor this project, I chose to work on Tim Holtz Etcetera Thickboard Tags. I really love this thick material. I started by adding some texture on the Tags, using rice paper along with Multi Medium Matt. I dried that layer and then I used the Stamperia Leaf stencil with Ranger Texture Crackle Paste. The stencil design is not very visible in the end, but that is ok. It is still there. I wanted to create a somewhat industrial look so I thought I should use some gears. I used gears from two SnipArt Chipboard sets, the ‚Cogs XXL ‚ and the ‚Cogs and gears‘ set. I arranged them on the right sides of my Tags.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\nIt was time to create my focal points. I use the Prima Mechanical Insecta Mould and hot glue to create a mechanical butterfly and a mechanical dragonfly. I used the hot glue insects but I tried to make them out of other mediums first. I made a set out of resin and a set out of clay but I found that the hot glue worked the best for this project. I attached the insects on top of the gears, using Multi Medium Matt. I also used the Multi Medium to add Micro Beads on some areas of the tags, mostly around the gears. I was trying to create some more rusty texture. The Micro Beads I used were the colour Berry, but for a project like this, it doesn’t really matter what colour of Micro Beads you use. They are there just for the texture and they are going to be covered with colour anyway.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/figure>\n\n\n\nOn for the colouring and that was really interesting to do! First, I covered everything with white Gesso. The materials on these Tags do not take colour very well so a good base is needed to insure good colour coverage. It is always a good idea to use white Gesso as a base for the colours. After the Gesso was dry, I applied my first layer of paint. I used Dylusions paint for everything, mixing the colours as I needed. For the first layer, I mixed Blue Hawaiian and Polished Jade and covered everything with it. This layer is eventually visible only in small areas and it is supposed to give the impression of Patina. I know I should have added a bit more green to the mix. We always tend to see these mistakes after it is too late to fix them… Oh well… I dried the paint and moved on to the next layer. For this layer I mixed some London Blue with Lemon Zest and Postbox Red, in order to make brown. I tend to make a green and an orange first and then mix them together as needed. I also added a very little Black Marble to the mix. I used my brown colour as well as some pure Postbox Red to colour the Tags. I also added some gold acrylic paint whenever I thought it was needed. This process took some time and, honestly, there is no rhyme or reason to it. I just added the colours wherever and however they looked right to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When all the paint was dry, I added a bit of Prima White Pearl Metallique Wax. I simply used my finger to brush some wax on the raised areas on the Tags, just to bring out some of the details. Then, I used a small stiff brush and Black Soot Distress Oxide ink to add some shading. The colours are quite dark and I had the feeling that I lost the definition between each piece. I think the shading helped in having the different pieces standing out. I didn’t add sentiments on these Tags. I think they are just fine as they are…. and that simply means that I had no idea what sort of sentiment to use, that would be fitting for this project… Honestly, sometimes I just do not have good ideas. That happens!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

F\u00fcr dieses Projekt habe ich mich entschieden, an Tim Holtz Etcetera Thickboard Tags zu arbeiten. Ich liebe dieses dicke Material. Ich habe damit begonnen, den Etiketten etwas Textur hinzuzuf\u00fcgen, indem ich Reispapier zusammen mit Multi Medium Matt verwendet habe. Es ist immer eine gute Idee, wei\u00dfes Gesso als Basis f\u00fcr die Farben zu verwenden. Nachdem das Gesso trocken war, habe ich meine erste Farbschicht aufgetragen. Ich habe f\u00fcr alles Dylusions-Farbe verwendet und die Farben nach Bedarf gemischt. F\u00fcr die erste Schicht habe ich Blue Hawaiian und Polished Jade gemischt und alles damit bedeckt. Diese Schicht ist schlie\u00dflich nur an kleinen Stellen sichtbar und soll den Eindruck von Patina erwecken. Ich wei\u00df, ich h\u00e4tte der Mischung etwas mehr Gr\u00fcn hinzuf\u00fcgen sollen. Ich habe auch etwas goldene Acrylfarbe hinzugef\u00fcgt, wann immer ich dachte, dass es n\u00f6tig ist. Dieser Prozess hat einige Zeit gedauert und ehrlich gesagt steckt da keine Methode dahinter. Ich habe einfach die Farben hinzugef\u00fcgt, wo und wie sie f\u00fcr mich richtig aussahen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Die Farben sind ziemlich dunkel und ich hatte das Gef\u00fchl, dass ich zwischen den Elementen die Definition verloren hatte. Ich denke, die Schattierung hat dazu beigetragen, die verschiedenen Teile hervorzuheben. Ich habe diesen Tags keine Spr\u00fcche hinzugef\u00fcgt.
