Shine

Hello everyone! I am Lia and I am here today with a new mixed media project. I recently got this cute Prima mould with several sizes of moons and stars and I wanted to play with it. I usually do not work on so dark coloured projects but, this time, I wanted to create a night sky.  Let’s start with the materials I used:

I decided to work on a 20 X 20 cm canvas this time. I covered my canvas with Gesso, to create a good ground for the paint, and after the Gesso was dry, I covered the canvas with Black Marble Dylusions paint. For my next step, I mixed a good portion of Ranger Texture Crackle Paste with Micro Beads along with Periwinkle Blue and a little bit of Black Marble Dylusions paint. I wanted colour and texture. I applied the mixture on the canvas, using a spatula, making sure to create spikes. I had the image of a galaxy in my head. I made sure to leave some space in the center for my focal point. Before the paste would dry, I pushed some Idea-Ology Droplets and some Prima crystals right in it. My Droplets come from the Christmas set, but the colours fit with my project so I just used them. After the Droplets and the crystals were placed, I left the canvas aside to dry. The main part of my background was done.

It was time to work on my focal point. I wanted to use the Prima Stars and Moons mould but I wanted the moon to stand out on my canvas, like a separate image. I didn’t want it to blend in. So, I decided to use this little embroidery hoop and give my moon the elevation it needed. I attached some embroidery fabric on the hoop and covered everything with white Gesso. I used the mould to create a moon and several stars in different sizes. My moon is made out of hot glue because I needed it to be flexible. That made it easier to manipulate it in order to glue it on the hoop. My stars are made out of clay. I covered everything with white Gesso and when that was dry, I attached the moon and some of the smaller stars inside the embroidery hoop. I coloured the entire hoop, the moon and all the stars with Blue-Gold Opal Magic Prima Acrylic Paint. When the paint was dry, I attached some Prima crystals on the free side of the hoop and then I attached the hoop on my canvas. I also attached some more stars all over the canvas. As a last addition to my background, I used the White Pearl Prima Metallique Wax and applied it on all the raised areas of the canvas.

My sentiment comes from the Idea-Ology Small Talk sticker block. I glued the sentiment stripe on black cardstock, cut it and attached it on the canvas. It says “Shine like the whole universe is yours” ! I really love this sentiment! Sometimes we forget that we actually have the right to shine! One last thing that I would like to mention. As you can see, there are some white openings on the canvas. That happent when the Crackle Paste dried. It seems like it took the black paint along with it as it was cracking. I might have applied the paint in a wrong way or maybe I should have used just black Gesso. I am not sure what went wrong there but I do not really mind. I like the end result, so I did nothing to fix it. I just covered the background with some Multi Medium so the paint and the Paste will not flake off of it.

And that was the project for today! I am looking forward to find a spot on my wall for this canvas! The colours are a bit unusual for me but I enjoyed making it! Hallo zusammen! Ich bin Lia und ich bin heute mit einem neuen Mixed-Media-Projekt hier. Ich habe kürzlich diese tolle Prima-Form mit Monden und Sternen in verschiedenen Größen bekommen und wollte damit spielen. Normalerweise arbeite ich nicht an Projekten mit so dunklen Farben, aber dieses Mal wollte ich einen Nachthimmel schaffen. Beginnen wir mit den Materialien, die ich verwendet habe:

Ich habe mich entschieden, dieses Mal auf einer 20 x 20 cm großen Leinwand zu arbeiten. Ich habe meine Leinwand mit Gesso bedeckt, um einen guten Untergrund für die Farbe zu schaffen, und nachdem das Gesso getrocknet war, habe ich die Leinwand mit Black Marble Dylusions-Farbe bedeckt. Für meinen nächsten Schritt habe ich eine gute Portion Ranger Texture Crackle Paste mit Mikroperlen zusammen mit Periwinkle Blue und etwas Black Marble Dylusions-Farbe gemischt. Ich wollte Farbe und Textur. Ich habe die Mischung mit einem Spachtel auf die Leinwand aufgetragen und dabei darauf geachtet, dass Spitzen entstehen. Ich hatte das Bild einer Galaxie im Kopf. Ich habe darauf geachtet, in der Mitte etwas Platz für meinen Schwerpunkt zu lassen. Bevor die Paste trocknen würde, habe ich einige Idea-Ology Droplets und einige Prima-Kristalle direkt hineingedrückt. Meine Droplets stammen aus dem Weihnachtsset, aber die Farben passen zu meinem Projekt, also habe ich sie einfach verwendet. Nachdem die Droplets und die Kristalle platziert waren, habe ich die Leinwand zum Trocknen beiseite gelassen. Der Hauptteil meines Hintergrunds war fertig.

Zeit, an meinem Schwerpunkt zu arbeiten. Ich wollte die Prima-Form „Sterne und Monde“ verwenden, aber ich wollte, dass der Mond wie ein separates Bild auf meiner Leinwand hervorsticht. Ich wollte nicht, dass es sich einfügt. Also habe ich beschlossen, diesen kleinen Stickrahmen zu verwenden und meinem Mond die nötige Höhe zu verleihen. Ich habe etwas Stickstoff am Stickrahmen befestigt und alles mit weißem Gesso bedeckt. Mit der Form habe ich einen Mond und mehrere Sterne in verschiedenen Größen hergestellt. Mein Mond besteht aus Heißkleber, weil ich ihn flexibel machen wollte. Das machte es einfacher, es zu manipulieren, um es auf den Stickrahmen zu kleben. Meine Sterne sind aus Ton. Ich habe alles mit weißem Gesso bedeckt und als es trocken war, habe ich den Mond und einige der kleineren Sterne im Stickrahmen befestigt. Ich habe den gesamten Rahmen, den Mond und alle Sterne mit Blue-Gold Opal Magic Prima Acrylfarbe bemalt. Als die Farbe trocken war, habe ich einige Prima-Kristalle auf der freien Seite des Rahmens befestigt und den Rahmen dann auf meiner Leinwand geklebt. Außerdem habe ich überall auf der Leinwand noch ein paar Sterne angebracht. Als letzte Ergänzung zu meinem Hintergrund habe ich das White Pearl Prima Metallique Wax verwendet und es auf alle erhabenen Bereiche der Leinwand aufgetragen.

Mein Spruch stammt aus dem Small Talk-Aufkleberblock von Idea-Ology. Den Sentimentstreifen habe ich auf schwarzen Karton geklebt, ausgeschnitten und auf der Leinwand befestigt. Es heißt: „Leuchte, als ob das ganze Universum dir gehört“! Ich liebe diesen Spruch wirklich! Manchmal vergessen wir, dass wir tatsächlich das Recht haben zu glänzen! Eine letzte Sache möchte ich noch erwähnen. Wie ihr sehen könnt, gibt es einige weiße Öffnungen auf der Leinwand. Das ist passiert, als die Crackle Paste trocknete. Es scheint, als hätte sie die schwarze Farbe mitgerissen, als sie Risse bekam. Vielleicht habe ich die Farbe falsch aufgetragen, oder vielleicht hätte ich nur schwarzes Gesso verwenden sollen. Ich bin mir nicht sicher, was da schiefgelaufen ist, aber ich finde es macht nichts. Das Endergebnis gefällt mir, daher habe ich nichts unternommen, um es zu beheben. Ich habe den Hintergrund nur mit etwas Multi Medium abgedeckt, damit die Farbe und die Paste nicht davon abblättern.

Und das war mein Projekt für heute! Ich freue mich darauf, einen Platz an meiner Wand für diese Leinwand zu finden! Die Farben sind für mich etwas ungewöhnlich, aber es hat mir Spaß gemacht, es zu machen! Ich hoffe sehr, dass euch das heutige Projekt gefällt! Ich hoffe, ihr habt euch inspirieren lassen!
