Feeling Wicked

Hello everyone! Welcome back to another mixed media project. It is about time for me to slowly dive into Halloween! I really love making Halloween projects! So, today we are taking a first taste of Halloween. Let’s start with the materials I used:

Materials

As is tradition, I started with my background. I worked in my Stamperia mixed media art journal and started by applying a good coat of clear gesso. I wanted some texture on my background, so I used the Batground Layering stencil by Tim Holtz with Ranger Texture Crackle Paste around the edges of my page, and then let the paste dry. Colouring the background was a lot of fun! I used the larger moon mask from the Moon Mask Stencil Set by Tim Holtz to cover the central area of my page and then I used Lumberjack Plaid Distress Spray Stain, Decayed and Fortune Teller Distress Mica Stains (from the Halloween 4 Set) and Black Marble Dylusions Ink Spray to colour my background. For this, I spray on some water first, so my colours would spread when they touch the page. Then I just sprayed the colours wherever they looked good. I carefully lifted the mask from the page and dried everything. Then I sprayed with water again, mostly around the white area in the middle of the page, to let the colours flow into that white area. I dried one more time and then took a moment to admire this spooky moon! To add even more detail to the moon, I used the coordinating stencil with Lost Shadow Distress Oxide ink. I used some Black Soot Distress Oxide ink around the edges of my page and my background was ready!

My focal point for this project in a cat looking out to the moon. She was cut out of black cardstock with the Sizzix Mischievous Thinlits and she is one of the eight cat designs of this set. Of course, I needed something for the cat to sit on. So, I created these pumpkins, using the Snarky Cat Halloween stamp set. There are three Snarky Cat stamp sets. The first is a general one and then there are the Christmas and Halloween and I love them all!!! I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink to stamp the pumpkins, I dried the ink and then I covered the stamped designs with Multi Medium Matte. The Multi Medium turned the paper into a non porous surface, which allowed me to used my Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens for colouring. Another medium that could be used in the same way are the Distress Crayons. I usually just apply a small amount of colour and then smudge it with my finger. It is quick and easy and I like it! I cut the pumpkins by hand and glued them on the page. Then, I used Black Soot Distress Oxide ink with a stiff brush and I added some shading around the pumpkins, focusing mostly on their base.

My sentiment is cut out of black cardstock, using the Sizzix Bold Text Halloween Thinlits. It says “Feeling wicket”. I think it fits this cat’s mentality just perfectly! I added a few highlights with a white Gelly Roll pen and my page was ready!

And that was the project for today! I am really wondering what sort of evil plans this cat might have in her mind while looking out at the moon! Halloween projects are some of my favourites! Hallo zusammen! Willkommen zurück zu einem weiteren Mixed-Media Projekt. Es ist an der Zeit, dass ich langsam in Halloween eintauche! Ich liebe es, Halloween Projekte zu machen! Heute genießen wir also einen ersten Vorgeschmack auf Halloween. Beginnen wir mit den Materialien, die ich verwendet habe:

Wie es Tradition ist, habe ich mit meinem Hintergrund begonnen. Ich habe an meinem Stamperia Mixed Media Kunstjournal gearbeitet und zunächst eine ordentliche Schicht klares Gesso aufgetragen. Ich wollte etwas Textur auf meinem Hintergrund, also habe ich die Batground Layering Schablone von Tim Holtz mit Ranger Texture Crackle Paste direkt an den Rändern meiner Seite verwendet, und dann die Paste trocknen lassen. Den Hintergrund auszumalen hat viel Spaß gemacht! Ich habe die größere Mondmaske aus dem Moon Mask Schablonenset von Tim Holtz verwendet, um den zentralen Bereich meiner Seite abzudecken, und dann habe ich die Seite mit Lumberjack Plaid Distress Spray Stain, Decayed und Fortune Teller Distress Mica Stains (aus dem Halloween 4 Set) und dem Black Marble Dylusions Ink Spray eingefärbt. Dafür sprühe ich zuerst etwas Wasser auf, damit sich meine Farben verteilen, wenn sie die Seite berühren. Dann habe ich die Farben hinzugefügt und sie einfach überall dort hingesprüht, wo sie gut aussahen. Ich habe die Maske vorsichtig von der Seite genommen und alles getrocknet. Dann habe ich noch einmal Wasser versprüht, hauptsächlich um den weißen Bereich in der Mitte der Seite herum, damit die Farben in diesen weißen Bereich fließen. Ich habe noch einmal getrocknet und mir dann einen Moment Zeit genommen, um diesen gruseligen Mond zu bewundern! Um dem Mond noch mehr Details hinzuzufügen, habe ich die passende Schablone mit Lost Shadow Distress Oxide-Tinte verwendet. Ich habe etwas Black Soot Distress Oxide Tinte an den Rändern meiner Seite aufgetragen und schon war mein Hintergrund fertig!

Mein Schwerpunkt für dieses Projekt ist eine Katze, die zum Mond blickt. Sie wurde mit den Sizzix Mischievous Thinlits aus schwarzem Karton ausgeschnitten und ist eines der acht Katzendesigns dieses Sets. Natürlich brauchte ich einen Sitzplatz für die Katze. Also habe ich diese Kürbisse mit dem Snarky Cat Halloween Stempelset erstellt. Es gibt drei Stempelsets „Snarky Cat“. Das erste ist ein allgemeines, und dann gibt es noch Weihnachten und Halloween, und ich liebe sie alle!!! Ich habe Memento Tuxedo Black Tinte verwendet, um die Kürbisse zu stempeln, ich habe die Tinten getrocknet und dann habe ich die gestempelten Designs mit Multi Medium Matte abgedeckt. Das Multi Medium hat das Papier in eine nicht poröse Oberfläche verwandelt, sodass ich zum Ausmalen meine Faber Castell Pitt Artist Pens verwenden konnte. Ein weiteres Medium, das auf die gleiche Weise verwendet werden könnte, sind die Distress Crayons. Normalerweise trage ich nur eine kleine Menge Farbe auf und verwische sie dann mit dem Finger. Es geht schnell und einfach und gefällt mir! Ich habe die Kürbisse von Hand ausgeschnitten und auf die Seite geklebt. Dann habe ich Black Soot Distress Oxide Tinte mit einer harten Bürste verwendet und etwas Schatten um die Kürbisse herum hinzugefügt, wobei ich mich hauptsächlich auf ihre Basis konzentriert habe.

Mein Spruch ist aus schwarzem Karton mit den Sizzix Bold Text Halloween Thinlits ausgeschnitten. Es heißt „Sich böse fühlen“. Ich denke, es passt einfach perfekt zur Mentalität dieser Katze! Ich habe ein paar Highlights mit einem weißen Gelly Roll Stift hinzugefügt und meine Seite war fertig!

Und das war das Projekt für heute! Ich frage mich wirklich, welche bösen Pläne diese Katze wohl im Kopf hat, während sie auf den Mond blickt! Halloween Projekte gehören zu meinen Favoriten!
