Hello everyone! Welcome back to another mixed media project. For today I prepared a Halloween project based on an idea I got from a construction Luise Heinzl made for this year’s Sizzix-Tim Holtz Halloween release. She created a scene on a book and that is exactly what I did. The scene is different, the materials are different, even some of the steps I did are different, but the project is based on Luise’s idea. And, oh, it looks wicked! Perfect for Halloween! Below are the materials I used:

To begin with this project, I needed to prepare the book. I chose an old hardcover book, I cut the right side of the cover and pages in half and removed them. I glued the remaining pages together with Multi Medium Matte and I also attached the half cover to the remaining pages on the right side. I kept the book in clamps for a couple of days. It was not necessary, but I prepared it days ahead and just made sure it was properly dry. Moving on to the actual background for this project, I worked on the left side of the book first, there where all the pages were intact. That side was going to be the lower part of my project. I started by applying Clear Gesso and when that was dry, I used the Decayed Layering Stencil by Tim Holtz with Black Opaque Texture Paste, to add some texture. These pastes tend to blister if they get dried too fast and hot with the heat gun, so I just left the paste to dry on its own. Once the black paste was dry, I used the Wicked Elixir Distress Mica Stain and a paint brush to add colour. I wanted the book to remain clean on the sides, so I avoided spraying on it. For the background of the right side of the book (upper side of my project), I cut a piece of mixed media paper in the size of that side which I then sprayed with Distress Mica Stain Sprays in the colors Harvest Moon, Wicked Elixir, and Decayed , before I glued it to the top part of the project. Luise created some damage on her book and that is also what I did. I used a blade and a hammer to achieve that. After those parts of the book were chipped, I added some Multi Medium Matte on them to shape them the way I wanted them. Then I added some Walnut Stain Distress Paint on them and heat embossed them with Ranger Clear Embossing Powder. I added Black Soot Distress Oxide ink around the edges of the lower part and my background was done!

For my images, I used several products from Tim Holtz. I made the moon using the Layering Moon Mask. I used the mask part to trace the shape and cut two layers out of yellow cardstock and one layer out of white mixed media paper. I coloured the white layer with Harvest Moon Distress Mica Stain Spray and then I used the stencil part and Iron Gate Distress Mica Stain Spray to add the moon details. I glued the layers together and my moon was ready. The graves, the spooky plant and the fence pieces are cut out of cardstock in different gray tones, with the Sizzix Graveyard Colorise Thinlits set. I cut them, put them together and then I added some Crypt Distress Grit Paste on them. I chose a little girl paper doll from the Tim Holtz-Layers+Paper Dolls-Halloween 2023 pack and I covered her with Sparkle Distress Texture Paste. I wanted her to look like a ghost. I also used a skull and a pumpkin from the Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Skulls+Pumpkins pack, as well as some candles from the Tim Holtz idea-ology-Drippy Candles pack. I spread Multi Medium Matte on the little shelf created by the pages and then I attached some dried moss on it. I placed my images on top of the moss. I also chose some small bats from the Tim Holtz Sticker Book – Halloween 2023 and I added them behind the other elements.

My sentiment is cut out of red cardstock, with the Sizzix Bold Text Halloween Thinlits set. I attached the letters on the lower part of my project and then I added some Carnation Red Liquid Pearls on them. I tried to use the Liquide Pearls to create a blood dripping affect. My sentiment says “Toil and Trouble”, a very typical Halloween phrase. After the sentiment was done, I added some more Crypt Distress Grit Paste all over the project: on my images, all around my 3D elements and on the lower part of the project, all around my sentiment. I really like how the Crypt paste absorbed the colour of the Wicked Elixir Distress Mica Stain and it ended up looking like moss! That might be my favourite part of the project!

And that was the project for today! It is always fun, trying something new! I am going to work on books again in the future. I found it very interesting and I have also learned a few thing from it so, next time, I will do it better. I really hope you like today’s project! I hope you got inspired! Hallo zusammen! Willkommen zurück zu einem weiteren Mixed-Media-Projekt. Für heute habe ich ein Halloween Projekt vorbereitet, das auf einer Idee basiert, die ich aus einer Konstruktion gewonnen habe, die Luise Heinzl für die diesjährige Sizzix-Tim Holtz Halloween-Veröffentlichung gemacht hat. Sie hat eine Szene in einem Buch erstellt und genau das habe ich getan. Die Szene ist anders, die Materialien sind anders, sogar einige meiner Schritte sind anders, aber das Projekt basiert auf Luises Idee. Und, oh, es sieht böse aus! Perfekt für Halloween! Hier sind die Materialien, die ich verwendet habe:

Um mit diesem Projekt zu beginnen, musste ich das Buch vorbereiten. Ich habe mich für ein altes Hardcover-Buch entschieden, die rechte Seite des Einbands und die Seiten halbiert und sie entfernt. Die restlichen Seiten habe ich mit Multi Medium Matte zusammengeklebt und auf der rechten Seite habe ich auch den halben Einband an den restlichen Seiten befestigt. Ich habe das verleimte Buch ein paar Tage lang in Klemmen aufbewahrt. Es war nicht notwendig, aber ich habe es Tage im Voraus vorbereitet und einfach sicher sein, dass es richtig trocken ist. Als ich zum eigentlichen Hintergrund dieses Projekts überging, habe ich zuerst an der linken Seite des Buches gearbeitet, dort, wo alle Seiten intakt waren. Diese Seite sollte der untere Teil meines Projekts sein. Ich habe mit dem Auftragen von Clear Gesso begonnen und als es trocken war, habe ich die Decayed Layering Schablone von Tim Holtz mit Black Opaque Texture Paste verwendet, um etwas Textur hinzuzufügen. Diese Pasten neigen zur Blasenbildung, wenn sie zu schnell und zu heiß mit der Heißluftpistole getrocknet werden, daher habe ich die Paste einfach trocknen lassen. Sobald die schwarze Paste trocken war, habe ich den Wicked Elixir Distress Mica Stain und einen Pinsel verwendet, um Farbe hinzuzufügen. Ich wollte, dass das Buch an den Seiten sauber bleibt, deshalb habe ich vermieden darauf zu sprühen. Für den Hintergrund der rechten Seite des Buches (obere Seite meines Projekts) habe ich ein Stück Mixed-Media-Papier in der Größe dieser Seite ausgeschnitten, das ich dann mit Distress Mica Stain Sprays in den Farben Harvest Moon, Wicked Elixir und Decayed besprühen konnte, bevor ich es auf den oberen Teil des Projekts geklebt habe. Luise hat ihrem Buch Schaden zugefügt, und das habe ich auch angerichtet. Dazu habe ich eine Klinge und einen Hammer verwendet. Nachdem diese Teile des Buches aufgesplittert waren, habe ich etwas Multi Medium Matte darauf aufgetragen, um sie so zu formen, wie ich es wollte. Dann habe ich etwas Walnut Stain Distress Paint darauf aufgetragen und sie mit Ranger Clear Embossing Powder heißgeprägt. Ich habe etwas Black Soot Distress Oxide Tinte um die Ränder des unteren Teils aufgetragen und mein Hintergrund war fertig!

Für meine Bilder habe ich mehrere Produkte von Tim Holtz verwendet. Den Mond habe ich mit der Layering Moon Mask gemacht. Ich habe den Maskenteil verwendet, um die Form nachzuzeichnen und zwei Schichten aus gelbem Karton und eine Schicht aus weißem Mixed-Media-Papier ausgeschnitten. Ich habe die weiße Schicht mit Harvest Moon Distress Mica Stain Spray eingefärbt und dann habe ich den Schablonenteil und Iron Gate Distress Mica Stain Spray verwendet, um die Monddetails hinzuzufügen. Ich habe die Schichten zusammengeklebt und mein Mond war fertig. Die Gräber, die gruselige Topfpflanze und die Zaunstücke sind mit dem Sizzix Graveyard Colorise Thinlits Set aus Karton in verschiedenen Grautönen ausgeschnitten. Ich habe sie geschnitten, zusammengefügt und dann etwas Crypt Distress Grit Paste darauf aufgetragen. Ich habe eine kleine Mädchen-Papierpuppe aus dem Tim Holtz-Layers+Paper Dolls-Halloween 2023 Paket ausgewählt und sie mit Sparkle Distress Texture Paste überzogen. Ich wollte, dass sie wie ein Geist aussieht. Ich habe auch einen Totenkopf und einen Kürbis aus der Tim Holtz Idea-Ology Skulls+Pumpkins-Packung verwendet, sowie einige Kerzen aus der Tim Holtz Idea-ology-Drippy Candles Packung. Ich habe Multi Medium Matte auf dem kleinen Absatz verteilt, der durch die abgeschnittenen Seiten entstanden ist, um etwas getrocknetes Moos darauf zu befestigen. Ich habe meine Bilder oben auf dem Moos platziert. Außerdem habe ich einige kleine Fledermäuse aus dem Tim Holtz Stickerbuch – Halloween 2023 ausgewählt und sie hinter den anderen Elementen platziert.

Mein Spruch ist mit dem Sizzix Bold Text Halloween Thinlits Set aus rotem Karton ausgeschnitten. Ich habe die Buchstaben im unteren Teil meines Projekts angebracht und dann einige Carnation Red Liquide Pearls darauf angebracht. Ich habe versucht, mit den Liquide Pearls einen bluttriefenden Effekt zu erzeugen. Mein Spruch lautet „Mühen und Ärger“, ein sehr typischer Halloween Satz. Nachdem der Spruch fertig war, habe ich dem gesamten Projekt noch etwas Crypt Distress Grit Paste hinzugefügt: Zu meinen Bildern, rund um meine 3D-Elemente und im unteren Teil des Projekts rund um meinen Spruch. Mir gefällt sehr, wie die Crypt Paste die Farbe des Wicked Elixir Distress Mica Stain absorbiert hat und am Ende wie Moos aussieht! Das könnte mein Lieblingsteil des Projekts sein!

Und das war das Projekt für heute! Es macht immer Spaß, etwas Neues auszuprobieren! Ich werde in Zukunft wieder an Büchern arbeiten. Ich habe es sehr interessant gefunden und habe auch einiges daraus gelernt, also werde ich es das nächste Mal besser machen. Ich hoffe sehr, dass euch das Projekt gefällt!
